ChuckPa:
you’ll only need do it this time to get everything in line then it’s done.
I would like you to remove the permissions settings from Sonarr & Radarr.
The more I think about how they work, let’s let the file system do the job for us.
It’ll still come out exactly the same but the +s flag will propagate the way we want.

I went ahead and turned off permissions settings.
I ran chmod g+s on my plexmedia directory. Folders are going to be auto written under the plexmedia/tv and plexmedia/movies directory of the server. So due to me doing g+s on my main directory and having it be aprt of the media group that plex is in, it will be readable by plex now?
Let me rephrase so you can say yes/no ?
All the directories are owned by your_name:media
You set g+s to all the directories again (after setting the group)
If this is what you did, YES. everything will autowrite the directories to be owned by media.
Since Plex is a member of the media group , it will always have access.
The Salton Sea (2002) was also owned by the media group but plex was unable to read until I CHMODed the files to 755 and the folder to 655.
I turned off the auto permsisions in Radarr and Sonarr and will see if this helps.
All my directories are either owned by root:media or my_name:media
Plex still cannot read new files unless I run 755 on files and 644 on folders.
show me a directory listing please ?
They should be owned by you, not root.
