But when I added new location to the library (with old location preserved) plex library is updating and downloading new metadata anyway.

Thanks but I forgot to mention that I am using PMS on Linux and ext4 drives…
I am really confused
I have really big library with many fixed matches and some manually edited metadatas so I would be verry happy when it will be possible to move my files without doing this all again…

If you don’t want to move the Plex data folder but the media files themselves, there is only one option: edit the database directly.

I was able to completely move my libraries with all my fixed matches and changes preserved!
I did not even have to edit database directly.
This method should be mentioned in official Plex Support Article.
