Move Plex Database to new NAS installation / Update a home and a travel Plex version

Hello, I am not sure which category might fit here.
Situation one: I am running a Terramaster F5-422 on TOS 4.2.x and would like to upgrade to 5 as the PlexServer is now available for it. There is no upgrade but you need to install 5 from the start, then connect to the discs which is still holding the data. You then install Plex server. Is it possible to use the previous Plex database or do I need to setup plex from scratch including scanning and so on.
Situation two. Beside my home installation on the F5-422 I do have a mypassport plus for traveling with basically the same files. Is there a way to sync the two servers to the status of services watched while on the road is transferred to the “home” system.

Thanks for any help on this

Bernhard

You might want to take a look at this support article

https://support.plex.tv/articles/sync-watch-state-and-ratings/

this will sync watch state/ratings, but you will still need to sync/copy the actual media files from one nas to another using something outside of plex (ie rsync or similar sync/copy/backup utilities).

There is no supported method of syncing the plex database directly across multiple servers.
