Move Plex from smaller volumes to new larger volumes

Server Version#: 4.10.1

I have a QNAP 451+, and I’m fairly new to NAS devices. Originally I had two 4TB RAID1, and two 2TB RAID1. Plex resides on the two 4TB. As I’ve ran out of space, I’ve replaced the two 2TB, with two 8TB now installed and running RAID1.

I’ve backed up /share/CACHEDEV1/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library and that (16GB) tar file is now safely stored elsewhere. I’m sure I’m over complicating this, but do I just copy/paste all the data in the directory from the two 4TB’s to the two 8TB’s? Then import the library file and start up Plex?

Well is that project going? Sorry nobody saw your post.
It would be necessary to define your general plan for your NAS and QNAP to answer your questions. So let me know about these

  • Are you running one big Storage Pool housing the two raids?
  • Do you want to move only your media over to the 8TB raid?
  • I figure the metadata and server qpkg are fine over on the 4TB raid still.

If you’re only moving the media, then follow this article:

good luck!
