Move server to new Windows machine

Server Version#: 4.131.1
Player Version#: n/a

I’ve run Plex server on an older desktop (Windows 10 that cannot be updated) for a number of years. I recently decommissioned it and installed Media Server on an HP laptop - Windows 11 with all updates.
I had all my media on 2 HDDs and installed them externally. I can see the files and play the movies w/o Plex.

When I attempt to play media via Plex (either through the server or player on another machine or TV on the local network), the server shows and MediaPlex is ‘unavailable’ I’ve tried rescanning several times with no changes.

I can find no references to MediaPlex in the FAQs or configuration. I never had this issue on the old box.

Can anyone point me toward information on MediaPlex and/or suggest a solution?

Of course not, this was the name of your personal server. Plex would not include it in any public documentation.

You must differentiate between your media files on one hand,
and the Plex libraries and the metadata about your media in these libraries on the other hand.

You have only transferred your media files from the old server. But you left behind all the Plex data. If you can still access the old server’s main hard drive, there is a chance to salvage these data and copy them to the new machine.
