But... Orion... Reading is hard.....

...That aside I think the separate agent for it would be pretty slick

Nice to see others who want the same thing.  As some have mentioned, metadata for all of these extras can just be local to the Plex server.  I still really want to just see an option listed for any TV series or movie with extras listed.

Yup.. I am slowly mastering the ways of the PMS agents... And this would just make it easier and cleaner

has anyone found a way from keeping the movie extras separate from the movies without moving them into a completely different folder? i'd be ok just removing them from the db, but afaik deleting through pms will also delete the movie from my hd, which is not a good solution for me.

I really don't think it's worth the time of doing this, but you could just scan it in along with the movie with just " - extras.*" or whatever after the title, then when it scans in and shows you have 2 of the same movie, "split" them and then manually rename the one that links to the extras.  It's ugly, and I wouldn't bother doing it, but yeah, I guess it's something that could be done.

This is what I did for movies that have either alternate endings (I Am Legend) or with multiple cuts (The Lord of the Rings).  But doing this for extras also?  eh, up to you

<<--My most desired new feature.

Perhaps the answer to this issue is to add this scraper to Plex...

I have also been looking for a format/way to preserve bonus material such as behind-the-scenes documentaries from a movie. Some even have amazing DVD menus, like the special edition of Panic Room.

wtf is this then if they don't allow extras that were DVD only?

The two specials were DVD only as far as I am aware.... hell the only non DVD only special for that show was the "last" one... but technically the 2 specials should be after.. but meh.

The TVDB has irritated me long enough I've actually started building my own replacement for it. Between the eternity they are taking for their website overhaul and rediculous policy choices like that one right there, I just gave up on expecting them to improve. Once I have something worth showing I'll post my meta data agent up for people to use.

One issue for me is as far as I am aware Plex only has the theme music work with the TVDB agent :/

iTunes was just updated to 11.3, with better support for movie extras, i.e. behind-the-scenes, director's commentary etc.

This is what's still largely souring the digital format of movies for me... the lack of extras and nicely done menus (think of Fight Club or Memento).

Is there a digital solution for the complete DVD/Blu-ray movie experience? I mean seriously, it's not just the movie that counts towards the experience. It's everything. So the first solution that gets this right so I can properly digitize my DVD collection gets my money. Maybe iTunes is getting it right now...

I too am looking for this feature in Plex. I found a few threads talking about this but this seems like the “official” one and the last comment is 2 years old.

Anything new on this front?

Support for movie extras has been in Plex for some time now. This page shows you how to set them up.

No support for TV extras at this time. Perhaps in the future.

Interesting…I found that page and started browsing it looking for my answer but stopped when it started talking about artwork and such. The section I needed was way at the bottom and titled “local extras”. I wasn’t searching for that exact phrase. I was looking for “special features” and the like.

As far as TV “extras” go I have had good luck with using this process although I realize it doesn’t cover every contingency:

The issues come along when TVDB.com doesn’t have the info on something.

Thank you for the help!

Early 2021 clean-up: duplicate
While this thread was here pretty early, it’s been fast asleep since the last forum migration. In the meantime, local extras for movies have been implemented. There’s (more) active threads on local tv-show extras as well
