I have thousands of movies at plex. Anytime I want to watch something new is to hard. I can’t make a decision. I would like to have two features to solve it:
First, movie of the day: this feature makes Plex choose one a random movie based in most loved (by audience first and critic later) and based in genres more watched.
Second, hot movies: a list with 10 trend movies, most commented or most rated in the last days (weeks or months). TMDB api can solve it, matching movies we have.
I think it will be a great start to improve plex with some kind of simple AI by using smart queries.
You can create some smart collections and pin those to the library recommendations or server home page. I have e.g. created a collection that’ll show me 6 random movies I haven’t watched in some time, taking their rating into account.
The same can be done based on critic/audience ratings – though not based on popularity / # of TMDb comments.
