@“MovieFan.Plex” Bless You!! I only use the feature to extract the artwork but it is a god send and I’ve had issues for a little while. I’m so glad you are going to take up the mantel again!! Maybe it will be easier to do the TV Libraries now also.
Yup. The new version will do TV shows (show and season, and the theme) and Music (artist and album). I’m not going to bother with episode images.

Any chance the new version will also be able to import .m3u playlists and sync playlists to non-Admin users?

Have you, by chance, given any thought to how you could do the collection artwork also? Since collections are virtual, instead of physical, I am not sure how they would be stored so that they were kept.
As far as I have seen, with the new “Collections” functionality, the developers have not said that you can create something like a folder called Collection and then place the artwork in it. Like…
/Movies
/Collections

I think I will make a recommendation to have this.

Considering I haven’t updated this tool in 2 years, my guess would be no. I’ve finally started working on a new version of this so hopefully I will have something to share after New Years.
Just checking in to see if you’ve progressed any closer to a new version? Still using the original, so handy!
I found a rather big bug in my new code and I haven’t had the time to trouble shoot it. I didn’t document my old code very well, so it’s taken me longer than I expected to catch up on how I did things before.

Just wanted to check in on how the new version was coming along.
I think about this all the time also because of how wnd fully useful this has been for me in the past but I also know I couldn’t replicate it so I just sit quietly in the corner hoping for a few scraps from the Master’s table.
Also @“don.alcombright” , what does “infusing since 2017” mean?

haha, I was wondering if anyone would notice that ever. I use Infuse on my Apple TV, its not a superior UI, but the video player is night and day better. I can play any file type without issue 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision… doesn’t matter. They also just implemented direct Plex support (so it uses Plex’s watch status and meta).
I just wish Plex would buy the rights to use Infuse’s media player, its insanely better for the Apple TV.
I found the mortscript file. I can now startup of the database tool and see the menu come up, but when i select any of the options besides help (8) or debug(7) nothing happens the screen momentarily flashes but nothing else. When I select help then a text file with the help message comes up. When I select option 7 for debug I can toggle in and out of debug mode, but even in debug mode I don’t see any of the files created such as the .bat file it mentions?

This is just a post to encourage any update/work that can be done to get the new version working. I have started to notice some Tv shows where the artwork that was there is no longer available on the screen. I would love to have all of the curated artwork and such kept locally so that if I had to redo my server, everything would be just as I left it.
I know others love this tool for playlists and such but that is not what I use it for.
Thanks for the work you do! Also, do you have an account for donations to show our support? Good work should be supported!!

This is the same thing that is happening for me. I hadn’t run the tool for ages, but need to now to re-import some Playlists that Plex has buggered up, and it doesn’t work. This is running it from the same fileset/location that it used to work fine from. Plex changed something in the DB that is stopping it working maybe?
Does anyone know how to get around the “An unknown Poster location was encountered” error when extracting thumbnails? Moviefan said something about the Plex database schema had changed since the last release. Thanks!
With @“MovieFan.Plex” being a Plex employee now, I keep hoping that the functionality to curate all of the posters and artwork will be released as part of a Plex upgrade.
A guy can dream, you know!!

Considering I’m not a dev and have no idea how to add these functions into PMS, it’s going to stay a dream for the time being. i still hope to update this app, but just haven’t had time.
If you don’t want to wait there’s a roundabout (but hey, it works!) way to copy watched status from one user to another, but you have to go via Trakt.tv to do it.
Simply put: you use the Plex-Trakt-Scrobbler plugin to push one Plex user’s watchstatus to a Trakt.tv account, and then pull it into another Plex user’s account.
I just finished doing this for my wife because her Asian drama shows were really making it hard for me to keep up to date on my stuff
