I started working on a small tool which lets you modify some of the data in Plex' database... because maybe the scraper didn't work exactly as you wanted :)
If you want to test it you should backup your movie database in **~/Library/Application Support/Plex/userdata/Database/MyVideos34.db**, but I don't expect any bigger problems.
Just unzip the attached file and copy it to your application folder. There's also a modified version available for XBMC.
**Attention:** Plex 0.9 probably will be available in the not too distant future, DON'T use this tool with it, it will have a new database. I'll provide a new version when Plex 0.9 is out.
this looks awesome. will give it a test right away. thank you. one question, would you consider adding genre support? i’ve been looking for something to quickly add the genre ‘HD’ so i can browse films by HD only and this looks perfect.
Gave it a quick spin and this is indeed awesome!! Just tested on a (shared) userdata setup and works like a charm, brilliant. Agree with El Massman that it would even be better with genre support.
I’m having trouble getting changes to save. For example, I’ve edited the plot of a movie, clicked “Save Changes,” closed the DB Editor, opened Plex and the changes are not there. When I reopen the editor, the changes are also gone. Am I missing anything?
But, otherwise, this is such a great app! I’ve been manually editing .nfo files which has been a huge pain. An app like this would be a dream. Thank you so much!
Great work! Do you think something like this will be in the .9 update of Plex? This is the kind of tool we need!
Would it be possible to add import/export of database between Dvdpedia and PlexDBEditor? I use Dvdpedia to manage my movie collection, and would love to sync it with Plex.
