PlexDBEditor

Small tool to modify some of the scraped data
Hi,

I started working on a small tool which lets you modify some of the data in Plex' database... because maybe the scraper didn't work exactly as you wanted :)

If you want to test it you should backup your movie database in **~/Library/Application Support/Plex/userdata/Database/MyVideos34.db**, but I don't expect any bigger problems.

It has been tested under OSX 10.5 and 10.6.

Just unzip the attached file and copy it to your application folder. There's also a modified version available for XBMC.

**Attention:** Plex 0.9 probably will be available in the not too distant future, DON'T use this tool with it, it will have a new database. I'll provide a new version when Plex 0.9 is out.

this looks awesome. will give it a test right away. thank you. one question, would you consider adding genre support? i’ve been looking for something to quickly add the genre ‘HD’ so i can browse films by HD only and this looks perfect.

thanks again,

marc

Gave it a quick spin and this is indeed awesome!! Just tested on a (shared) userdata setup and works like a charm, brilliant. Agree with El Massman that it would even be better with genre support.

Thanks a lot for sharing.

Tested. Works like a dream. Blazing fast! Really nice work.

I’m having trouble getting changes to save. For example, I’ve edited the plot of a movie, clicked “Save Changes,” closed the DB Editor, opened Plex and the changes are not there. When I reopen the editor, the changes are also gone. Am I missing anything?

But, otherwise, this is such a great app! I’ve been manually editing .nfo files which has been a huge pain. An app like this would be a dream. Thank you so much!

Currently working on the genre support…

I think I know what the problem is, will be fixed in the next version.

If you allow them to add new genre then you have to make sure you add it to the genre table.

I do, I do :)

This is such a great little app. Thanks!

Nice work!

how about having the option to delete a record in the database.

Thanks!

Update:

New version with genre support. I also fixed a bug where the changes were not saved.

The link can be found in the first post.

@Korey: I’ll think about it. Would be easy to implement, but as this is also possible in Plex I’m not sure if really necessary

wow, this is the app i’ve been waiting for months to arrange my collection correctly by genre !

just one question, could you add the option to delete a genre ? Cause I think there are way tooo much genre over there…just an idea

congrats for the app !

Great app!!

Any possibility of allowing paste function? Would be nice not having to type the entire plot.

Thanks!

Don't know what you mean, you just have to click with the right mouse button into the plot field and select "Paste"... or press CMD+V

Strange, CMND+V won't work but the right click does so all's good. Thanks for the quick reply.

Ah, you're right... CMD+V really doesn't work, I thought it does. Support will be added in the next version.

Hi Someone

if I look at your printscreen on the first post I can see no more dans 20 movie genre…I have about 200 !

Did you do something to delete some genre ? Could you add this option easely on your app ?

Thx a lot

cheers

Very cool of you to do this! Great seeing people create little third party apps for Plex!

Great work! Do you think something like this will be in the .9 update of Plex? This is the kind of tool we need!

Would it be possible to add import/export of database between Dvdpedia and PlexDBEditor? I use Dvdpedia to manage my movie collection, and would love to sync it with Plex.

You stole my idea  , I was planning on writing a DB editor myself. I’ve been mapping out the database when I get time.
