I’m getting the following error when trying to view my movies library.
"There was an unexpected error loading this library
Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems"
It only happens on this library and it seems to happen on all devices, web, phone, tablet, roku, shield, etc.
I’m using a QNap NAS and have tried several different server versions with the same result for each. I’ve also tried removing/re-adding the movies folder, rebuilt the db for it. Still no luck. Anyone else have any suggestions?
As of this morning I am getting the same message, “There was an unexpected error loading this library”, when trying to connect to my Movies library from Firefox on my Windows 10 computer, but only my movies library–my other libraries open fine from my computer. However, when I try to open any of my libraries from my LG smart TV I get a “[library] is Currently Unavailable” error. When I try using the PLEX app on my Samsung S8 phone all my libraries return a “No items to display” error. Yesterday everything was working.
Meanwhile, Continue Watching, On Deck, and Recently Added titles appear and play normally on all my devices.
The server is running on a Synology DS-218+ NAS which is also the location of the library files. I have made certain (I think) that all the various elements of this puzzle have received their latest updates. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?
My libraries are hosted on a NAS. I’m running Chrome to view the Plex Media manager. I am getting this error on all my libraries. I don’t see any solutions posted for this at all. Any ideas?
So what’s going on with this problem Plex? It just started happening to me also a few weeks ago running latest PMS on macOS 10.14.6. Some libraries work fine but others don’t. The odd thing is (as others have mentioned) if you search for one of the shows it will show up and play fine, but it won’t show as “Recently Added” or even allow me to open the Tv Shows library.
All these PlexPass paying users and not even a response in 4 month???
Thanks for the reply, but for the life of me I can’t find a “Collections tab for this library.”
The only reference to “Collections” I can find is when I go into edit the library, under Advanced, and the Collections section is set to “Show collections and their items.” Just like my Movie library which is working fine. (BTW - I never changed any of this. The TV Show library just stopped working one day.)
Yes. It was happening on the Mac (running the server), FireTV, and iOS.
UPDATE: I was able to fix the problem by repairing the database following the below instructions. Something to note, when I ran the final script in Terminal it said I still had errors, but when I restarted the PMS everything seems fine.
I’d leave the server logs turned on “debug” detail and inspect them during the next few days for reports about a damaged/corrupt/malformed database – just to be on the safe side.
So I’ve continued to have the same database trouble come back to haunt me over the past couple of weeks. I’ll run the database repair (above) and it will work for a few days, but then back to not working (in my case it’s the TV Show Library - unexpected error loading).
As mentioned before, when I repair the database I still get a few errors on the final Terminal command “sqlite3 com.plexapp.plugins.library.db < dump.sql” but it ends up working. This last time I got A LOT of errors on that last command. Too many for me to dump here but they basically took the form of:
Error: near line 792643: UNIQUE constraint failed: metadata_items.id
Error: near line 792644: UNIQUE constraint failed: metadata_items.id
Error: near line 792645: UNIQUE constraint failed: metadata_items.id
Also, the final PRAGMA Integrity Check throws a long list of errors that starts with this:
*** in database main ***
On tree page 23622 cell 143: Rowid 7600527 out of order
On tree page 9716 cell 59: Rowid 7600618 out of order
On tree page 74095 cell 255: Rowid 1534404 out of order
On tree page 86 cell 344: 2nd reference to page 74095
row 222594 missing from index index_taggings_on_tag_id
row 222594 missing from index index_taggings_on_metadata_item_id
… and goes on.
Any advice? I really don’t want to have to do another “clean install” that I had to do a few months ago and then have to go back through all my libraries and mark what’d been watched, etc.
I also have this issue on a WF mycloudpro NAS. For me it is the TV Shows Library that is unavailable. Movies and music work fine. Been searching for a solution pretty much non-stop for two days with no luck.
