Movies or Episodes not matching and just file name appears...

Hi guys,

Why sometimes episodes or movies are not matching and just the file name appears ?

I’m talking about “big” movies or name series perfectly identified but not the episodes, like this…

Is not fun and I don’t like mannually editing the names…

Thanks…!!!

what are the exact names and extensions as you have them ?

As for mass renaming, www.filebot.net It’s worth the money to for the automation to lookup the media and then rename it for you with the click of the button.

Let me guess… MP4 files. RARBG is notorious for embedded metadata…
Just select all the MP4 files and right-click, Properties, click the Details tab, click on Remove Properties and Personal Information, select Remove the following properties from this file, click Select All, click OK.
PlexDance the movie and/or show/season. Done.

Hi… !

@ChuckPA … the problem is not the file names, is Plex not recognizing the matching and using the file info…

@NewPlaza … Seem to be the reasonable cause… and after tested, was verified as the problem… Solved…!!!

Just one detail… “Select all” in the properties doesn’t work right away because “Media Created” (the date) is “read only”… must be unchecked…!

after "“PlexDance”, perfect…!

One thing: Plex stupidly places “Local media assets” at the first position in all agents. You should go into settings/agents and move “Local media assets” below everything else in all the agents except for “Personal Media” at least for Movies and shows.
Then you should “Plex dance” the impacted files.
Move all the files to where Plex does not see it.
Update the library in Plex.
Empty trash.
Remove bundles.
Move all the files back into your Plex library.
Scan the library again.

There are two options: 1) Names and 2) MP4 with embedded metadata. I had a 50/50 shot. Not my lucky day I guess

@Elijah_Baley … I agree with you… “Local media assets” works better at bottom for me…

@ChuckPA … Hahahaha… Well, not your lucky day, but thanks for your help anyway…!!!

I can see that… I’m out of touch with Windows 10…

Is that a new term for “Beta Tester”
