Movies that begin with "The" Not matching

Server Version#:1.19.1.2589
Player Version#: N/A

I’ve been running PLEX media server for years, and recently the matching algorithm must have changed, since I have many movies that begin with the word THE, renamed so that THE is at the end, i.e. instead of The Dark Knight, my movies are filed as Dark Knight, The.

This has worked for years, but recently (within the last 6 months), Plex is no longer able to match the movie unless I manually tell it to search for the movie with THE in the front.

Was this change intentional? Do I need to go through my library and rename all the files and folders?

Again, this worked for years, just want to know if this is a BUG or the new way it’s going to be from now on (i.e. if it’s documented, it’s not a bug). If it’s meant to be this way, I’ll start renaming my folders and files. (and reconfigure CP to rename this way)

Thanks

Mike

Same issue. I’ve been having to manually edit the search parameters to put “The” at the beginning to get a match.

Testing bears out - The at the end isn’t the name of the movie.

APIs change.
Improper naming works until it doesn’t then you know what to do.

On the bright side, I guess, The Matching Engine is a learning machine - keep fixing match and eventually it may get smart enough to match your poor file naming:

There’s the rules - ignore them at your own peril -
