Movies will play in one library, but not another

I hope someone can help with this… I have two libraries that I put most of my movies in: Movies and Movie Series.

Everything was working well, then all of a sudden about 4 months ago something strange happened.

Movies I added to Movie Series would not play. I would get Playback Error: There are no playable items. All of the movies added since then began to do this, despite the fact that Plex DOES download the metadata (posters, cast, reviews, ratings, summaries all load and display) and the movies are all visible in the library. Oddly, the movies that were already in the library still play fine. To make things even weirder, if I move a movie that won’t play to the Movies library, it will play fine. The final twist of WTF is this… the problem only occurs on my ROKU TVs (Samsung and TCL). Everything will play on my phone and laptop, although the “problem” movies do take longer to buffer.

Oh yeah, if I sit and try to play a movie over and over (and over and over), it may eventually play accidentally, but I will still get the error screen with the movie audio playing. When I click the button to go back to the menu, the movie will be playing. I’m seriously baffled…

There were no changes to my network immediately preceding the start of the problem. I have tried repairing Plex. I have reinstalled the apps on both TVs. I have deleted my codecs and let them reinstall. Everything is up-to-date. Naming conventions are correct. I have optimized the database. I have cleaned the bundles. I have scanned the library files (prior to and following the codec refresh, and at least a dozen other times). I have tried with my antivirus disabled. I have tried unlinking the media folders from the library and then relinking them. All file types have the same problem.

Any ideas are welcome, and thanks for at least reading this far.
