I want to divide tv show between “end show” and “on-air show”. When a tv show end, my server will move those files to another library named “end show”.
However, when tv show files are moved to another folder, viewstate don’t move.
There have been lots of questions about moving viewstate from one server to another server, but it seems that questions about moving viewstate within server are rare.
Is there any way to move viewstate when file moved to another folder(library)?
Viewstate is stored based on the GUID of each media item. The Library doesn’t come into play.
As long as the same Agent is used for the old and new Libraries, media should use the same GUID and viewstate should be preserved.
I was worried about it being deleted when the trash is emptied or bundles are cleaned, but I think it’s still preserved.
If you Edit the Library, go to Advanced, and compare the Agent used. If they’re the same, this should already be working.
Alternatively, please Get Info on an item before you move it, and then View XML.
Do the same thing after moving it - Get Info and View XML.
Compare the first guid from each XML.
