I finished transferring all my data (ie video files), and now I want to grab all the metadata info. The guide says, for WD, that the folder is /mnt/HD/HD_a2/plex_conf/Plex Media Server/
Problem is, plex_conf does not exist. I am lost. I SSH’d into it, and can go all the way down to HD_a2 but the folder isn’t there. I have looked elsewhere too.
I know I could associate the metadata again but there are hundreds of files where I had custom metadata and it would take me weeks.
Any ideas?
Also, am I on the right track? Once I have that file, I would need to copy it to my Synology (where I am not exactly sure, but one step at a time)
Thanks, but I am not really at that point yet (I have only copied over my many TB of video data, to the NAS, can put it where it needs to go afterward.
What the issue is, is that on my WD, I can’t find the metadata folder, which I’m told is in one path, but it simply doesn’t exist?
Hi - not sure if this will help, or if you’ve solved it, but… after a friend’s Sinology PMS setup crashed yesterday, I decided to do a new (irregular) backup of my PMS data that I run on a PR2100 with OS 5. (Works great, by the way). The path I used to use to get to the server data didn’t appear to exist anymore (as you pointed out). So I dug around a bit more using an SSH SFTp client and found the data had been moved to
/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/plex_conf/Plex Media Server/ → AND
/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/plexmediaserver/ (!!)
Preferences.xml and Metadata folders are in the “Plex Media Server” folder. No idea what the “plexmediaserver” folder contents are for, but they carry more recent timestamps on them.
If Plex has changed the location of database files for WD OS 5 NAS installation, I’d request that they update the support articles that carry this information.
Anyway, please check out these locations on your WD NAS and see if you can locate them.
