I’m running my Plex library on an 8TB external drive (USB), but the actual database is on the internal drive. I’ve watched my remaining storage on that drive go down from 100+GB to around 50GB, and I’m in the midst of adding a ton of content (ripping DVDs), so I expect the internal drive to run out of room long before the external drive does. I only use that Mac as a media server, so it’s not like there’s much else eating up space.
What’s the easiest and safest way to move that database to the external drive? Should I do so (will that create performance issues)? What exactly takes up so much room in the database? Any options to make the database a bit leaner? I am generating TV show intros–would that be a good place to start?
Any info would be appreciated.
Running OS 10.9.5 (older Mac Mini that’s maxed out on OS upgrades)
