Moving Plex Database

Hello,

Sorry i know this has probably been asked a few times. I am using a RPi 2 and i want to move the Plex database to my USB hard drive. I have tried using the Symlink and tried using the instructions on here.

Once i got to the end and i removed the original data, plex then started up a new server as im guessing it couldnt see the files.

How am i able to do this please, i’ve been trying for almost 2 days now, im sure i must be missing something simple

Currently i have my plex data backed up to my USB drive, but dont know how to get Plex to look at it.

Many thanks,

Just create a systemd drop-in that overrides the default PLEX_MEDIA_SERVER_APPLICATION_SUPPORT_DIR. It’s all explained in the following link. Make sure Linux user plex has write permissions for this directory.

Thanks for your response. I have tried to follow this previously.

Step 1. Create directory… I try to create and it says it already exists. I then go to that directory and it’s not there.

I try to do “nano etc/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.d/override.conf”

It then tells me the directly DOESNT exist…

Sorry I’m pretty new to all this. I’ve managed to setup quite a few services with guides, but I’m stumped with this.

Should I purge Plex and start fresh?

Deleted the foldder and recreated.

Add the override file but put in the location of my HDD instead

Have Plex access to folder for override file.

Deleted out of Var/lib/

Loaded Plex. All metadata is there. So hoping that’s done it now.

Thanks for your help
