Update has cleared my library

I updated my system and plex had apeard back in the repo list, ive installed the update to find plex was asking me to set the system as if its a fresh install.

I have followed these two guides https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/?_ga=2.180687396.2034910175.1561297530-158010944.1561297530 and https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/

to try and restore the backup DB but no luck. I have tried to follow theses in the past asfter a upgrade but no luck. Any help would be gratefully received

Had you previously modified /lib/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service ?
If so, each update will overwrite it. This is the distribution default and under the package manager’s control. To override this permanently, please see the following How-To.

No I have never changed this file.

What can you tell me about the distribution and version ?
Any additional information (sample file paths, etc) would also help.
It’s not possible to help without more info.

Sorry, its Ubuntu 16.4, Plex installed in the default location - version 1.15.8 it was trying to install 1.16. My librarys are /media/wwb/storage

Any user media, stored under /media is subject to Gnome’s Nautilus desktop browser.

The moment you sign in, Plex gets cut off (exclusive access asserted by Gnome).

You need to perform this procedure to move your media elsewhere.

either a place like /disks or /home/plexmedia works well.

This how-to is focused on extra HD’s however the root problem to solve is creating the /etc/fstab entry.

followed the guide above and everything has started working again. thanks so much for your help @ChuckPa
