So when I started using Plex it was just for myself but now my Folks, Wife, Sister and Inlaws all have user profiles on my account. I would love to move them to their own accounts that I then share access to my server. so I don’t have my account log into all of their devices.
Is there a way to move all the user history from their user profiles on my account to their own account after they make them? is there like a merge function or anything like that?
Or do they just need to start again?
If you are up for a manual process, (I think) I hear you can export the videos watched state from the database itself, but you’re gonna need to write a SQL script (which I am in no way qualified to produce).
Other than that, no, there is no way to transfer status like this between accounts.
I’m tempted to convert my managed user accounts for myself and my two family members to their own accounts, then merge them back into the home of the server. But I’m not too motivated to set up my watched states all over again.
Add the new account to the Plex server, and give it access to the same libraries as the managed account.
In the View State Copy tool in WebTools-NG, select the From and To accounts.
FYI: It won’t help with your current need, but have them enable Sync Watch State and Ratings on the individual accounts (doesn’t work with managed accounts). This syncs with servers at Plex. If you ever change servers, etc in the future, watch state will sync automatically.
