New user, migrate watched status of another user, plus watch sync

I recently bought Plex Pass and want to migrate away from using my admin user on two of my three TVs.

Is there a way to do the following:
Copy my watched status from the admin user to the new user (I’m not doing this manually, my libraries are too large)
Make sure that any content watched on either account is synced
Make sure that my friend’s viewing habits don’t affect my watched status

My primary reason for this is that when I have company over, they don’t generally need/want to see the adult libraries I have. This will also be useful when I’m traveling and use a Fire TV stick to watch something with my coworkers.

I’m currently using the PleXBMC plugin on Kodi in the living room with it’s feature of selecting which libraries to display to manage the arrangement, but I plant to try out the Official Plex for Kodi plugin and the embedded x86/x64 image.

I don’t think this is possible sadly. It’s the reason I don’t use the long awaited Plex Home. You can use the database tool to copy watched status at a point in time, but it won’t stay synced…

Well, I guess I’ll use PleXBMC’s feature where it will mark watched as an alternate user on top of the current one.

What database tool?

Use the Trakt.tv channel to do this.

I think you are holding it wrong here. What are you trying to achieve by moving away from your admin user account?
If you share your server with other people, they are using their own plex.tv accounts.
Then they’ll have automatically their own watched/unwatched status.

I’m trying to have a better user experience in my living room or on my travel Fire TV Stick without having libraries show up that are blatant porn. It’s not because I’m ashamed of the porn, it’s just some people view that as over sharing.

Cannot link the same Trakt.tv to a managed user.

Do you have a more detailed explanation of what you mean?

If you have access to a Windows machine, you can use https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/120292/moviefans-database-tool-for-plex/p1#top to copy the viewstats from you radmin user to the newly created managed user.
This is a one-time operation and only uni-directional.
No continuous ‘syncing’ possible.

Can also try this script for on demand syncing between servers/users

Maybe using plexhome is still the way to go, with two distinct users. Your general purpose user with movies / tv shows, and your alternate user, with only that content in that account, nothing else.

If both users are part of your plexhome, set a pin on the alternate user, and you can still enjoy fast user switching to that account and content from any of your devices, and you no longer need to worry about keeping watched status etc in sync.

although this might pose you a problem with mobile sync, as i don’t think you can have two different plex users mobilesync to a single device.

Sadly, that script appears to only be for two different servers that have the same user(s), not one server with two different users.
