Many artist biographies in Allmusic are very long, comprising several paragraphs. When Plex imports these bios, the paragraph separations are lost, which looks bad, and makes reading less pleasant.
Dunno when it changed, but the last couple of times I’ve added a new artist to my music library, there are paragraph breaks in the bios, and it’s readable. And after checking a couple of dozen artists that were previously in the library, they all looked good too. (Windows - Version 1.18.8.2468)
Just thought I’d mention it - that it appears to be fixed, and maybe the thread can be closed and votes returned.
Please look at the Plex XML info of one of his tracks.
What is in the grandParentGuid?
It must start with "plex://artist/...
If there is anything else in there, the artist is still matched to either last.fm, or Gracenote, or Personal Media. Which means it won’t use the new code, which has the bugfix for the ‘paragraph issue’.
Verify that Scanner and Agent are set to ‘Plex Music’ in the prefs of the library.
Then ‘Refresh Metadata’ for this artist. (or ‘Fix Match’)
I agree that this is working, as long as the bio comes from AllMusic.
There’s also the case where grandParentGuid="plex://artist/... but AllMusic doesn’t have a bio, so the ‘Plex Music’ scanner still reverts to Last.FM. This results in the missing paragraph breaks.
