As a test workaround for an ongoing Sonos issue, I have converted a handful of my DVD-A’s and Blu-Ray surround mixes (of various rock albums) to Multichannel Apple Lossless (.m4a) files (some 4.0, some 5.1) and set up a “Surround Music” library (Music) in Plex. I then play them through my Sony OLED TV to my Sonos surround system.
I am finding that the Android Plex app (on my Sony TV) only plays the files in stereo, no matter what I do.
The Apple TV Plex app plays these files in the 5.1 or 4.0 formats, but initially only plays them in stereo. It sometimes takes repeated attempts and switching between Plex libraries to effect multichannel playback.
Are either or both of these known issues?
