An album may contain various artists it appears that Plex picks up the album artist and not the track artists. The result is all artist are lumped into a various artist sort and the individual artist is not picked up. ID3 tags show album artist as “Various Artist” track artist will be different i.e. track 1 = Tommy Dorsey track 2 = Benny Goodman. When reading an ID3 tag this is self evident. Is there a work around for this. Other programs reading ID3 tags don’t have this problem.

Plex curently doesn’t have support for more than 1 album artist.
You’ll have to decide which album artist is appropriate for this album to appear under. It doesn’t necessarly have to be ‘Various Artists’.
Using CATraxx, Audacity, Media Monkey, Tag Tuner and many supporting programs that use the ID3 tag identifirers and this is the first time i have had this problem. With Plex it is dead sure that all artist will not be picked up and tracking data (rating,date added ect.) are incomplete. All they would have to do is pick up track artists when it differs from album artists I have 600+ albums with 170 on Plex 70 of these albums have various artists. Any chance Plex will change this or should i look for another media server.
