Multiple user history

Atrus will correct me if I'm wrong, but what I was trying to say before is that multiuser is brand-spanking new, MyPlex-multi is even-more-new, and the Recommendations is tied to all of that (not much point in recommending things to yourself online -- or someone living under your roof, right?).

Through multiuser (i.e., Multiple MyPlex accounts tied to a single server, or [gasp] multiple servers), you will be able to place a recommendations to your compadres about what is worth watching.

That's just my take on things based on what I've been reading ... but the bottom line is that in the PlexPass World, you are looking at what-could-be before-it-is. It's all beta/alpha, Solar Bang, and I am not being intentionally being cryptic ... just patient. Is it functional? Not (fully) AFAIK. (Been wrong there too many times to be definitive with that sort of a question.) Will it be? (Apparently.) Is it annoying to be given ambiguous answers? (Of course.) Is that the roadmap? (I believe it is.)

FYI: Atrus is ninja, with one of the highest post counts I've seen, and we are honored to have his attention in this discussion, when he is primarily concerned with cleaning up (moderating) threads. Atrus, wise he is. Ninjas responding to your queries, good they are. Yoda says, relax you should, enjoy the ride you will.

P.S. Atrus does not like it when I act too "hip," so I apologize (to him) in advance for the ancient-hip Jedi-speak response. Are you ready to get annoyed? For the time being, send 'em an email ... in the future, that Recommendations Bar will be filled some day soon while you are focusing on other possibilities.

Is the feature currently functional? or no?

Yeah, but only for some videos at the moment. I can't get it to work for Youtube videos at the moment. It might be because I have updated to a unofficial Youtube plugin. But other videos it work. What you do it is that you click on one of the videos in your queue. Choose quality, and if the video opens up in the /web player you will see the "Recommend" button beneath the video.

As I said, they will work on this is the future. Right now it is in a bit of limbo :/

You sir are crazy ;)

But yes, we are in a bit of limbo at the moment. This is moving forward in chunks. The to-do-list is huge.

Shoot. My intention was to hide my crazyness. The to-do list advances with a dizzying speed.

More Data about ppl watching my movies would be nice!

+1 monitoring of transferred bandwidth is the only thing holding me back from sharing the server with family and friends.

Read this before you post here!

Ahh, so this only works for web media in queue, no local media? or am I misunderstanding?

These basically allow you to see who is streaming what. (Time) (Username) watching (movie / showname) as for data usage, you would probably have to do something for via software on the plex server machine or via router. I'm working on this myself too, the more data the better.

You are not misunderstanding anything good sir! :)

Plug-ins aside, given the importance of the information involved, this should be a built-in ... PMS should be keeping a log of this nature, ideally with the ability to increase its verbosity in times of troubleshooting (e.g., was the stream transcoded, bandwidth output, etc.), but ljunkie is definitely on the right track (I'm not on Linux/OSX :(, but Perl-based operations could be expanded to include other OS's  :)). This one seems obvious to me: plex_playback.log.

I would like to see all of the logs cleaned up -- and I can't wait to be able to run without debugging. From what I've seen, however, the PMS logging system is in constant turmoil, and probably will be until 1.0.

Thought I'd mention I have a working copy for windows now: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/79616-plexwatch-windows-branch/

ljunkie!

Any idea if the public 0.9.8.5 would still require a PlexPass for this to work, or is it still tied to unreleased functionality?

It requires PlexPass as far as I know. It requires this URL to function http://localhost:32400/status/sessions

+1  It would be great to have a history of Who, What, When, and if it was transcoded, to what device. Even if it were in a downloadable .csv format.
