Multiple user history

Hello All,  I currently am sharring my library with all my friends. They each have there own my plex account. I know that you can see what there currently watching, and also what has been watched resently from the ON DECK. I would love to see detailed user history for each user.  It seams like everthing that you would need to add this is allready in place in the form of the activity log. Thank you.

+1 as well, i was using the plugin for the reporting but now that it's integrated it would definitely be nice to have some type of stats area or something of the sort that shows usage history, maybe even expand that later to include total bandwidth usage, time elapsed, etc etc

I would like to see statistics such as how much data has been shared to each account remotely.

This would be a fantastic tie-in with the idea of myPlex 'child' users.

I’m mobile otherwise I’d post more detail, but it’s all in the thread - http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/72552-plexwatch-plex-notify-script-send-push-alerts-on-new-sessions-and-stopped/

tested on Linux and OSX

Great idea :)

Plug-ins aside, given the importance of the information involved, this should be a built-in ... PMS should be keeping a log of this nature, ideally with the ability to increase its verbosity in times of troubleshooting (e.g., was the stream transcoded, bandwidth output, etc.), but ljunkie is definitely on the right track (I'm not on Linux/OSX :(, but Perl-based operations could be expanded to include other OS's  :)). This one seems obvious to me: plex_playback.log.

I would like to see all of the logs cleaned up -- and I can't wait to be able to run without debugging. From what I've seen, however, the PMS logging system is in constant turmoil, and probably will be until 1.0.

I'd love to see this sort of thing part of PMS at some point, but I can just imagine all the other more important things that need to get done before something like this. For now, this suits me and I am still extending it when anyone has an idea or fixing any issues that crop up.

This script does not use any log files. It only uses the API -- so a Plex Pass is required until the Plex Pass version of PMS is released publicly.

I will put it on my list to extend this to Windows as I know there are a TON of windows users. I didn't extend it from the get go as I was only writing this for myself. Luckily OSX is similar enough, nothing really had to be changed.

+1 and maybe with a nice dashboard widget named something like "Recently Played (by)" (Or just in de activity tab). A quick view of what has been played by who.

Seeing what other people watch would be cool, but something I would like a little more data if possible, like how active users are and or how much data plex is using as a whole as well as per user. Just so I can keep an eye on bandwidth usage. I might start a thread for this, but one probably already exists.

Why we are on the subject of seeing what others watch, I see there is an option to see what's recommended. Is there currently a way to recommend something to a friend via plex? And as for multiple user history, it would be cool to have a quick switch feature. I watch stuff with my girlfriend, would be nice to watch things separately and together and have it keep track of who is watching, perhaps a feature specifically for the media center app to enable user bubbles at the top, bottom, or off to the side, and toggle users on and off. So both watched lists are hit and without the need to manually do it or sign in and out via preferences.

Solar Bang: check out MyPlex accounts for each of your PMS users.

Can you elaborate? when logging in, only thing I can edit the sections they can access. That's about all I know how to access, I've clicked all around. I'm all ears. Is there a tutorial for this if this information is already around and I missed it, to view usage data per user? Or is this something in the local files of the server and not from the plex web interface?

Shucks, no idea. No friends. No recommendations.

But the whole recommendations thang, AFAIK, was based on MyPlex. If you are sharing your PMS through MyPlex, that's where that stuff will be.

Yeah I am sharing my plex server with multiple users and I haven't found a way to recommend things from within plex web. After reading your reply though, I don't think you understand what I was getting at in my first two initial comments in this thread.

"Recommending" is only in its infancy in /web. It will be easier and more broad in the future (I think I heard Elan and Eric say awhile back).

Is the feature currently functional? or no?
