MyPlex option to show, log and control which users are streaming
Feature Request in order of importance:
1)Ability to see who is streaming Implemented! 2)Ability to see what they are streaming Implemented!
3)Ability to see when they streamed it
4)Log the above in a nice list sorted by date/item/user
5)Ability to limit the number of simultaneous Transcoding streams.
6)Ability to set transcoding quality for remote clients on the servers side (Thanks Eric Leese)
7)Ability to prioritize streams by user. As a server owner I want priority over those I share with. (added 12/27/2012) 8)Ability to see what device they streamed it on (Roku, desktop Mac, desktop win, ipad, iphone, etc) (added 12/28/2012) Implemented! (partially, Roku players show up as blank currently)
9) Include IP address in GUI logs (added 9/30/2013)
Consider this a $29 donation for the above functionality. Please speak up if you will find this useful. I know there is a ton of demand out there, but we need to do a better job of communicating this need to the developers. I want this as one of their top priorities:)
UPDATE:
There are now a third party solutions that cover almost all of the above requests. They are mentioned in the posts below but for convenience I am adding them to the OP here:
Hi Everyone - It has been awhile. I just want to let everyone know that there is a new 3rd party solution called PlexPY. PlexPY is by far the best implementation I have found to address the requests in this thread. Development has been ongoing for the last 6 months and it is now at a point where I can fully recommend it. I have moved from PlexWatchWeb to this. The original author (drzoidberg33) now works for Plex, so maybe there is hope that this gets built into Plex?
I would also love this feature. I have some family members and friends that all share my library. I can tell when there’s a lot of web activity on my Plex server because playback on my end seems choppy at times. It would be nice to see what people are viewing and when they viewed it. Also the ability to terminate a connection with a message would be great too.
This is my main feature request. I’m mostly just curious, but it’ll help me discuss shows with family/friends because I know that they’ve watched it. I’ll be able to revoke access to the users that have never used it.
-It would be great to gather real time information about a user via the http api
-I’d also personally like to see transcoding bandwidth (quality from remote servers) configurable from the server level per client and not manually selectable from each client.
I would like to see this especially if it could pop up as a notification on the new mountain lion saying ‘such and such a computer/device’ has started watching ‘Sopranos S01E05’
Always nice to know who is using my network and what for.
