I want to be able to have 4k and 1080p content coexist but 4k I only want for local while 1080p for non local. Is there any way to block/ignore versions depending on the connection?
in short: no
your best shot for such a use case could be to go with 2 separate libraries, one for 4K and one for “regular content”.
Got it. I think I’ve done something like that before except I used an ignore file perhaps? I’ll have a look
the .plexignore file will only restrict Plex from even scanning the file (so it won’t show up in the library at all and hence won’t be available for local users as well).

Ah right - i used it when I was using Kodi for local and Plex for external…hmm I’ll try your way
