In at least Google Chrome running on a Chromebook and Microsoft Edge running on Windows 10, when you are playing a song in a Music Library on Plex Web Version 4.77.3 (app.plex.tv), the album art poster thumbnail disappears when the browser window is resized smaller than a particular resolution. I do not know if this depends on the resolution of the image or not. For reference, my Music Library uses local album art embedded in the files via the server settings Album Art = Local Files Only and Prefer Local Metadata.
I also discovered that this issue is not present when connecting to the server by the LAN IP address HTTP (not SSL) default port 32400, therefore I think the problem is exclusive to https://app.plex.tv
