Album art thumbnails disappear when chrome not focused on plex tab

Hi all …

Chrome 72 - All album artwork is present and works fine.

All behaves as expected until I move to a different tab in Chrome, pushing the Plex tab to the background.

If I’m away from the Plex tab for more than a couple of minutes, then return to it, I see this:

If I scroll down, then up again, the images reappear fine.

I run Ublock Origin and Privacy Badger but behaviour is the same with these disabled.

I do feel like this is a Chrome setup issue rather than a Plex issue - but I can’t work it out.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

I can confirm this … Seams like the Plex Web app is limiting UI functionality when not in focus.

Thanks mm98 - wasn’t really expecting others to confirm!

I’m guessing this might only happen when the thumbnail list is changing [eg, if new content added or [as in my example] where the list is ordered by Tracks / Date Played - which constantly changes after each song is played].

It makes sense that Plex might not refresh this list while not in focus - but I feel like this only started happening recently.

Thanks again - any other thoughts welcome.

It might have to do with measures to reduce the power consumption/cpu load of inactive browser tabs.
I seem to remember that Chrome in this regard had some changes done to it in recent weeks/months.

It appears it has to do with the react framework that is used in the web app. It needs an update which is supposed to happen in a few weeks’ time.
