Hi, this is probably a really easy question to figure out, but I can’t.
If I have an album, say, “White Album” and I have it in both MP3 and FLAC - it displays two albums in Album view. Problem is that I have to go into each album, and “Get Info” for a file to know if it’s the FLAC or MP3 version.
For videos, when I have a regular and 3d version of the movie, it often puts a little “2” or “3” on the corner and lets me choose what version of movie to watch.
The idea is that you have the album only as FLAC and Plex transcodes to mp3 on-demand (sync to device or streaming). The resources required for encoding are so little that it doesn’t make a lot of sense to store the low-quality encodes permanently.
Now I’m not saying that’s ideal, but this concept of encoding-on-sync it’s more or less the road that other music libraries are also going.
