Last night before the outage, i had all of my file(s) metadata showing up ( Album Art’s, & Embeds ) and after the outage was fixed, my library was deleted. Upon re-adding my library nothing will get the files to “re-sync” per-say, and update the metadata. I’ve tried deleting and reuploading, refreshing all metadata ( and individually ), and the only thing to work on SOME files was “unmatching” the album but even then, there shouldn’t be any matching as i have it to my local embed’s - Local Files Only- Local Metadata - and both player and agent are set to plex music. i have tried swapping agent’s/players and reuploading and no luck. I need help its driving me crazy.
Where are your media files stored?
Are they outside of the Plex server machine?
Do you allow the media storage drives to spin down their platters when idle?
Or are these “mobile” hard drive(s"?
there was an outage this morning/ last night around 2am EST they even made a post about it here in the forums. And under the library tab where my music file folder would be shared was deleted after booting up <5mins after the service was back up, so i had to resync/ readd my library to my server- the server wasn’t deleted just the media, didn’t even populate anymore under libraries. Also, my files are stored locally at C:\Users\MYUSER. I’m not super techy, but i try my best, what do you mean by, “Do you allow the media storage drives to spin down their platters when idle? Or are these “mobile” hard drive(s)?”. Thank you for the help.
Let’s assume that all that was lost is the previous library items.
You can restore one of the backup copies of your server’s media database. https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/
Make sure to follow this procedure to the letter.
Most important is to stop Plex server using its task tray icon before starting.
Verify that you have not renamed or moved the folder which contained your music, sometime between creating the library and the incident.
Thank you for the help, but it seems like i’m sore out of luck then. I just created this server 3 days ago so the only backup’s i have are from day 1 prior to majority of the files being added, and 5am this morning after the loss ( i have backup set to 3 days ).
is there no way i can manually force plex to read and display the metadata that’s present? I do believe that its a display issue more than anything. Pictures to follow showing artist and album art dont show up, but the album art populates on the individual track when playing so its definitely there and readable. ( same issue on web player, just easier to SS on mobile )
i was coming here right as you sent that, i had the web app open the whole time it was just easier for me to share photo’s via my phone… But, after going into my files directory for the backup, all of the meta data just started pouring in on the “plex taskbar disc” - i don’t know what the true terminology for it is. I didn’t even move or open any of the backup files, so i don’t know- but regardless thank you for the help, i was feeling truly lost. Google was recommending writing a script and that is NOT something i know how to do, so very much appreciated, you’re a life saver.
You might want to plug in your phone to the charger.
At 17% charge it might have activated some power saving strategies, which could make apps behave strangely.
Similar things can happen if the internal data storage of the phone is almost completely full.
