I’ve been updating my music into plex, and one thing that would be a nice addition is for it to label the Album info for each disc if it is different. For example. Let’s say “Band X” puts out a box set for their album “Record” and it has four discs of material. Currently I split it into single discs with metadata in the ALBUM field to differentiate what it is so that I can see what I’m listening too easily in plex. So Plex looks like this, each as a separate entry:
Artist: BAND X
Record: Original Mix, Record: 2020 Remaster, Record: Demos and B-sides, Record: Live at a Place.
Each plex entery is in a separate folder so it displays like that…
It would be nice to have one one folder that would show like this via editing the Album metadata to correspond with each disc.
Artist: BAND X
Record (1980)
Disc 1 Original Mix
1
2
3
Disc 2 2020 Remix
1
2
3
Disc 3 Demo’s & B-sides
1
2
3
Disc 4 Live At a Place
1
2
Currently PLEX lists Disc 1, Disc 2, Disc 3, etc. If there was a way for it to display the album title as will if there are different album titles detected in the metadata, it would be really nice and clean. Or if not, have it be a choice to display album title with disc information so it can be turned on and off. (Defaulted to off, turned on for boxsets like this). Even to have us be able to add Disc descriptions after the fact would work, with no manipulation of the metadata needed.
