Currently, Plexamp hardcodes ‘Disc 1, Disc 2, etc…’ for multi-disc albums. fyi, Roon also hardcodes these same disk subtitles. There is an existing metadata tag in the specs (discsubtitle) that allows for custom disc subtitles. Use case: Box set albums and CDs that have a bonus ‘live’ disc or ‘acoustic set’, etc… Support of this tag would allow custom disc labels to be set and displayed for multi-disc albums. Most important for box set albums. Thanks for considering.
In order for plexamp to be able to show this, it must first be read in by Plex server.
So this is a feature request for Plex server, not for plexamp. And it already exists.
Thanks for the pointer to the other thread and the dependence on Plex server to implement this. The request has been active for a while… seems like a pretty simple add to the server code to read one more tag at the point where the default disc label (e.g. 'DISC n") is being set. But there are many other priorities I’m sure…
