I think the same principal could be used to create lists of other media object types, including shuffled list loading.
However, It depends on the Plex client whether all items in such a list would be played automatically.
I did a small test with a playlist of videoclip objects on several Plex clients:
= Playback on the Plex Media Center (Windows 7) seems ok (next video starts automatically, jump to next/previous works ok)
= Playback on Panasonic TV seems ok (next video starts automatically, jump to next/previous works ok)
= Playback on Web (Plex Media Manager) is not ok (Video is not started when clicked in the list, but media info is shown instead)
Also did a small test with a mixed playlist (music tracks and videoclip objects) on several Plex clients:
= Playback on the Plex Media Center (Windows 7) is partially ok (next track/video starts automatically, jump to next/previous works ok)
Once a videoclip has played, no album art is shown anymore for subsequent music tracks that are played
= Playback on Panasonic TV is not ok (mixed type not supported)

Dear Plex community
Ignore my ignorance - but I have downloaded the .zip file.
How do I install this plug in on Plex Server - I am running on OSX - Mac?
For this I need .bundle file ??
Thanks a lot
Running Plex on Windows...
I opened the plugin folder. Copied the folder from the ZIP file. Disabled Capability Checking.
The channel doesn't show up.
I see the instructions say : = The IP address and Port for PMS server must be set in the Preferences. So I opened the file DefaultPrefs.json in notepad and changed the Plex IP to default": "127.0.0.1"
I restarted the server.
I rebooted the computer.
I simply can't get the channel to show up.
I know there's one simple step that a 4 year old can probably do to make it work, but I simply can't figure it out.
Where did I go wrong? Can someone help me?
Thanks!

make sure you rename the file
MusicPlaylist.bundle-master
to
MusicPlaylist.bundle
this should make it show
"127.0.0.1" might also be wrong
i had to put my ip address 192.168.0.** etc....
hope that helps

Thanks for the message - I am just trying it now to see what you need to do. You download the zip. You extract the contents. And as NaDs just said above you rename the top level folder to remove the '-master' suffix
You place this folder in the plug-ins folder which according to the Plex Wiki - for Mac OSx it is here
~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/
Then it should get picked by PMS - On mine it appeared as the first channel. I restart Plex Media Server but I think it gets picked up anyway
Then you load it and configure it within the channel itself
So username - I think this is just local to the channel - nothing to do with myPlex
IP address: of the Plex Media Server PC so would be 10.0.0.x or 192.168.x.x depending on what you have. Port default as is 32400
I do not really know how to use it yet -
I presume as the channel code is running on the PMS machine itself so in theory 127.0.0.1 should also work for the IP Address
If you have any other questions come back to the forum. I do not have a Mac but have tried it on windows
Hi Chrisjan
Could you please expand on this note in the readme file:
Info.plist: currently set to "Elevated" ==> This plugin queries the metadata from the PMS server. This gives a permission denied unless the security is set to "Elevated"
I use UAC and I run Plex Media Server in a non-admin Account on Windows 7 - tends to be unattended with auto start through cjmurph's Plex as Service tool.
Also - are there going to be any instructions for users ?
Thanks
Hi Chrisjan
You know your default preset PMS IP address in your code is 192.168.0.1. which is the router / gateway address. Would this cause any confusion with Plex when the channel starts before one has time to configure it?
The reason I am asking is because I had a Plex server process crash on restarting Plex Media Server after I put the MusicPlaylist.Bundle in the Plug-ins folder on my windows 7 machine. May be it was a coincidence ?
The crash is documented here
I have only two Playlist channel logfiles (normally there are 6 = .log, .log.1, .log.2 ..... to .log.5)
So the logs do not go back to time of crash
Is there any way to take a current playlist in m3u format and import it? I have one already with 100 or so songs in it and I really don't want to manually add them one by one.
Where does it store the playlist? In a text file?

Works Great!
Love this channel. Thanks again. Playing around with the experimental video part, I notice that my TV SHOWS don't show up but all my other video folders do. Any way to get it to allow tv shows to enable a sort of "play a random episode of ####"?
Hi all
Has anyone has any luck with mac ?
I can’t get this channel to work on mac.
After unzipping files and changing the extension to .bundle and then copying to plug in folder and restarting plex server - the channel does not show up ?? I have changed the IP address as above for local server - 127.0.0.1
Thanks

This refers to the
PlexPluginCodePolicy
Elevated
setting in the Info.plist file. I should have included that in the note.
This channel will not work if this policy is not set to Elevated, because the channel needs access to some functions that are blocked otherwsie.

Thanks for the update. Do you mean the channel will not work if I run Plex Media Server in a non admin Windows Account and I should not attempt to include it if I do run in non admin account? Or is this nothing to do with Windows 7 UAC and elevation to Windows Administrator level ?

I don't now about that.
All I know is that the policy must be set to Elevated otherwise plex media server will not allow certain functionality be executed by the channel. I do not know whether or not that behaviour is also influenced by the account used to run PMS .

No import supported (yet). I am currently thinking about a good functional specification for that.
So far thinking about:
1. Generic m3u file format (only contain (relative) path + filename).
=> Find match track in the plex database only possible in case plex folders are equal to folder strcuture in the m3u file
2. Extended m3u file format
=> Find matching track could be done by path+filename or searching for title from the #EXTINF: line.
What to do in case of multiple matches?
Playlists are stored as xml files in the Plugin-support data folder for the channel (<$PlexMediaServer>\Plug-in Support\Data\com.plexapp.plugins.playlist\DataItems)
where <$PlexMediaServer depends> on the OS:
Windows: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server
Ubuntu: /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server
Any word on this,
i just tested a playlist of videoobjects on the plex app (samsung tv)
this is my findings and results in this youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is3S_G1QDUs&sns=em
as you can see it plays the video files as if it was a audio file, but when you scroll through the menu’s you can see it playing fullscreen in the background for just 1 sec before the menu comes over
would be great if it automatically just played the video file fullscreen an not as a audio file
is this a problem on samsung plex app or to do with MusicPlaylist.bundle
also is it possible to get tv-show section added also
thanks and thank you for taking the time to do this great plugin!!!
