Thanks, that helps a lot. I just tested it by adding “Single” as a RELEASETYPE tag and it worked great. I tried adding “Live” as the RELEASETYPE to another song and it didn’t classify it as a live album. Do you know what the tag types are for each of the other release types?
EDIT:
I found this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/plexamp/comments/ws9qk9/how_to_get_the_release_type_to_work/
This is a comment from user StayStruggling:
If you use MP3tag, you can edit the “MusicBrainz Releasetype” metadata tag field and these are the only metadata tags that work (so far);
• album
• single
• ep
• album;compilation
• album;soundtrack
• album;demo
• album;live
• album;remix
However, these MusicBrainz metadata tags below “work” but Plex recognises them or doesn’t recognise them as the ‘album’ metadata tag in your Plex library. Plex may update this functionality but for now it’s a waste of time to match album types to these tags because if you have a big library like I do you wont even see the effort you put in and on top of that Plex takes years to implement basic functions so don’t count on them getting integrated anytime soon. But, luckily the tags above do work so use those. For mixtapes (I listen to a lot of rap and rnb from the 90s/00s) so I just use the ‘album;demo’ tag in place of the ‘album; mixtape’ since that metadata tag doesn’t work as yet.
• album;dj-mix
• album;mixtape
• album;street
• album;mixtape/street
• album;audiobook
• album;interview
• album;broadcast
• album; audio drama
Once you’ve tagged your files in MP3tag go to Plex and refresh the metadata of the corresponding artist and the entries will repopulate in their respective fields that you’ve tagged.
