The shuffle option in the music player always plays the same selection of songs, barely shuffles. I wish it were way more random and intelligent, like play songs that haven’t been touched before etc…VLC media player shuffle is not good either. It would be amazing if this could be improved. Thank you.
I also wish shuffle could be improved or even better tweaked based on how a user wants shuffle to work. It sometimes feels like plex is trying to be smart about how it builds its playlist when you select to shuffle something and more often than not it just gets things wrong pulling in tracks it ranks higher than others.
This is very obvious when shuffling large playlist. For example, I’ve a “Best of Everything” playlist which basically is 1) everything that has a 5 star rating and 2) is not christmas music based on album genre. This playlist has over 3000 tracks but when I shuffle it the same stuff just keeping come up and some tracks just never play. This is after MONTHS of usage with an average of 55 played tracks per day.
I have subsequently added a filter to this playlist which says, track last played is not in the last 28 days. This somewhat helps but over time (months) I find that the same songs end up being grouped together when shuffled.
Anyhow, I’ll stop there. I really just wish shuffle could be configured to be completely random based on every track from what is being shuffled WITHOUT any weights / track prioritising.
BTW… just in case someone from plex says to go and turn on or off “Enable smart shuffling on artists and smart music playlists” it has little to no effect.
