Music Visualizations

I’m sure this has been brought up before, but haven’t seen anything recently.

FOR THE PLEX PLAYER DEVS (If they are even listening)

As today’s TV’s processing powers and ram are increasing, what’s the possibility of adding something more than just “Cover art and Song titles” when listening to music on TV. Would love to see something a little more similar to what we can find on the computer visually. While cover art is a good start, it gets boring after a while. If I am going to chill out to music, I don’t really want to stare at cover art. How about an equalizer that moves to the beat of the music? Or something like the Milkdrop visualization?

There may be hope on the horizon… Just hope its not a Premium cost… Of course it looks like it was before plugins were axed I think? Hopefully someone can answer.

Still don’t know if I am in the right forum, you would think “Plex Players” for Smart TV’s would be the right place as they would be the software handling the work. Unless streaming the visualization is the new way to do things these days.

I don’t understand needing visualizations, it’s music. When listening to music why would anyone be staring at the screen at all? The cover art and information is fine without adding visualizations that slow down the app or device for no reason.

Sorry, I have been AFK…

@Emissary35, while you may not see the need in visualizing your music on the big screen. Others like myself find visualization a great mood setter for parties or game night with friends or just chilling out listening to tunes. There are music visualizers on practically everything these days, my phone, my car, my AV system. On the big screen it just make sense and it all “better”.

Besides, who likes plain old vanilla?

I’m with you on this one XCRANKYX. I would love to have Milkdrop 2 in Plex. For those that don’t understand having a visualizer, well…it would be an option you wouldn’t have to use. It would be up to the user if the visualizer is used or not.

Old bump, but if you’re willing to feed from a computer to your TV, plexamp is what you want http://plexamp.com/ (somewhat unsupported Plex addon app that is like the og winamp with visualization options.).

Perhaps if it is popular enough they will add it to the Roku and Android Plex app for those of us who don’t want to feed the TV from the computer (else I just actually use winamp if I want a winamp style interface since I use Windows…)

Have been waiting for Album info. to return to Roku forever…They removed it ages ago and it never returned…

Music visualization has been a key part of listening to music since MTV. Kodi does a great job of providing lots of music visualizations. I find myself listening to Plex Artist TV, just to get something other than a static album. My wish list would include the following visualizations.

  1. Artist slideshow (Kodi)
  2. Shadertoy equalizer (Kodi)
  3. Milkdrop or Project M

Still waiting for something like this, and would pay a one-time fee.

I also would love to see visualizations like milkdrop/projectM. The music player itself is about as boring as they come.

I heartily ask for some kind of visualization, or at the very least, screen blackout/darkening. I have a plasma TV (you can pry it from my cold, dead hands) and plasma is still subject to burn in. Some LCD/LED tv’s are subject to this as well. Visualization or darkening isn’t just about pretty colors or music-sync’d video (though I would love that as well)–it’s about preventing burn-in on displays that are still subject to it.

I would love to see a visualizer for music too, I have OLED TVs and the burn in from static album art imagery means I cannot really use Plex for music.

Also would love a visualizer for music. If you play music through your TV and have a large group of people over it’s a nice mood setter.

Another vote from me. I am embarrassed for Plex’s lack of music visualization.
