Plexamp and Plex clients milkdrop visualizer option

long time Plexpass holder and bought licenses for friends and family

Suggestions:

  • Main Plex client for like consoles etc should have visualizer option for playing music as there is no plexamp client for like Xbox etc.
  • plexamp could use a shuffle option to automatically cycle through the current visualizer options

The plexamp clients with a visualizer only lets you select one kind and stays on that one.

I think if adding visualizers to main one you guys should go big or go home and use the open source projects milkdrop

This would also would be a sick upgrade for plexamp clients too if they used or had a milkdrop option.

I will say having visualizer on Desktop/mobile plexamp is cool, but not as useful as it would be in the main Plex client for consoles and smart tvs even if it was for plexpass only users

Thanks for all the awesome work and hope you guys consider the above suggestions

What are you harping on about? Besides Xbox, what other platforms are you feeling like visualizers are missing? You do realize that some platforms like Chromecasts, are limited to what they are allowed to have. I’ve personally not seen Chromecasts, Roku’s and some smart TV platforms have the ability to encompass visualizers with music due to either platform restrictions or hardware requirements. All that is allowed is simple metadata like album art, track title, artist or group and progress bar, and time. You can’t hold Plex solely responsible for this decision if they aren’t able to incorporate visualizations across all platforms and devices.

Here’s the Plex app for iOS, it indeed has a visualizer, the same visualizer found in PlexAmp. So again, specifically detail out what your complaint is.

i love milkdrop.

so do you think it’s possible we can make this a reality?

I get it might not be possible that the feature works on all or low end devices but that seems like a very easy thing to detect and just not allow enabled if hardware doesn’t support it. it’s not like there isn’t similar other features that vary Plex wise between your app clients based on the hardware.
