I am so frustrated right now. I too have tried to re-order my library. I’ve reset customizations I’ve tried unpinning and everything. This is ABSOLUTE HORSE CRAP. This is the stuff that makes me regret paying for software that I have no control over. It makes me sick to my stomach that I’ve spent literal hours up days building and organizing this media eco-system entirely around their product and they make such drastic changes that impact the user experience.
I have no idea if this comment is meant to be helpful – but this is a major irritant and in my view extremely easy to fix. I have many libraries (of movies) and have for many years taken the alphabetic sort for granted. But really, this is a paid service.
Of course it is meant to be helpful.
It’s not the answer to the problem but it’s a viable workaround until Plex fixes it.
@dan — I apologize that my my tone was . . . Well, not kind. As a moderator you clearly do a lot of work and I’m not one of those who flame. But I impulsively replied and for that I’m sorry. I do get frustrated sometimes with the priorities set for the devs as it seems that basic usability issues like this are often not addressed n as timely a fashion as I — as a CTO of my own SW company — would mandate
Cheers
If I am the Dan you are referring to, I am not a Moderator. ![]()
@TeknoJunky is though.
It is frustrating that bugs that noticable make it through to production software. If I were beta testing I would expect it.
Still waiting on a fix for this after update to 1.21.1.3876
@OttoKerner or @TeknoJunky are you able to investigate and give us some kind of eta please?
Sorry, I don’t know, and plex doesn’t announce or provide any information until they are ready to.
@TeknoJunky Thanks for getting back to me. Is there a place where we can see an announcement that confirms what Otto said about a fix being planned for a future update?
To make it clear for you, it will be in a future update, which one will be the issue here after bug is acknowledged.
As for announcements you find them here.
Note: As this seems a simple fix it is very possible sooner than later
Thanks for the link to the announcement section. I am seeking a link more specifically to a topic about planned fixes - one that would include this fix so that we can confirm that it is definitely in the plans. I hope that makes sense.
You can also tag the announcement to contact you. But your perceived planned fixes is just pixie dust, so it best to just get over the idea.
In plain English, are you saying that there is no place on this forum that you’re aware of, where planned fixes are listed?
In a word no and I understand why. You know it has been acknowledged as a bug, so it is now a in house ticket for the developers to work on.
Have said that, it is possible a Plex.Inc Employee will offer a approximate to this discussion, which has been seen at times.
So track the discussion and who knows what might happen
Well, let’s just hope it’s sooner rather than later. And hopefully an employee will respond with more info at some point. It’s a big problem in my view that my server is now being delivered in a way that is no longer user-friendly.
Unfortunately I’m also affected with this BUG with DLNA server. Although folder structure seems to be unsorted it seems it is sorted but:
Flipping ridiculous to suggest we drag-and-drop 100+ libraries.
Especially when you can only “drag” the Library a few places up at a time.
This should have been fixed by now.
An update on my case and done my testing and reverted to version 1.19.1.2701. Tested on my Philips TV, wireless connection.
Compared that version to all other versions:
The last version I can confirm alphabetical order works for me is 1.21.0.3711, but it’s quirky and not working well.
What happened to newer versions I’m not sure but problems are obvious.
Anyone can confirm the same case or workarounds?
K.
Why the functionality to order these things are gone or changed to ‘categorical’ instead of ‘alphabetical’ are beyond me. Right now you should be able to pin your library and sort them on the ‘Pinned’ sidebar(Firefox). But on Android v8.11.0.22186 I STILL have the alphabetical order and below that an unsorted list of Plex’s categories.
Devices most people here are talking about are TV set DLNA clients that are implementing DLNA protocol, not the Plex clients for mobile platforms. Hope this clarifies your wondering.
On my iPhone everything also works fine inside Plex client.
