It's a bit confusing, but you should be able to combine by doing a Fix Incorrect match on the "source" and then picking as a match the "destination". If they are the same thing, then just pick the same show and it should merge them.
I just added this show myself and it worked fine. I'd need to see appropriate logs as spelled out in the other thread on get getting posters, etc.
Hi Elan,
thanks for replying.
Well, there are a few things i have observed relating to music scanning (not talking scraping/metadata for the moment).
1) Scanning music files in "top" level directories doesn't seem to work.
2) Scanning of multiple albums from a single directory causes problems (album tracks are mixed up; despite ID3 tag info being correct)
Just tested this with MP3s of two albums in same dir - one album showed only one track, the second was a weird mix of both albums (not showing all tracks though).
then i moved the files of one Album to a sub-dir and everything shows perfectly OK again (apart from the below 3 digit track number issue) (I've that log attached below)...
3) Filename vs. ID3 tag differences cause problems (tracks are incorrectly / incompletely scanned in)
4) There seem to be issues relating to fine naming when scanning music data - e.g. track number as 3 digit (###-artist-song.mp3)
This results in a weird track list (3 out of 11 or so) - usually i see the first and last track of the album with proper track no's plus usually the forelast track as track 0 ...
If i simply rename the files using 2 digit track numbers everything scans in perfectly well.I never touch the ID3 Tag info.
5) Missing the ability to fix incorrect album (e.g. Nickelback Dark Horse shows as Daredevil, Directory name and ID3 tag are correct as Dark Horse).
More detailed info about that was posted earlier ( [Here](http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/16989-my-musictv-showsmovies-arent-showing-up/page__view__findpost__p__115522) ).
I am really more than happy to test, supply more detailed info, send logs etc. just let me know.
Whatever i can do to help I'd be glad to do...
Ciao

OOps, the log's gone missing.. try again
Great suggestions, thanks so much!
Hello Elan
First of all, Plex is an awesome application that I've been using for more than one year. I was really happy to switch from plex 8 to plex 9 few weeks ago. You really did a great job.
To my point of view one should be able to access the album information in the media manager.
Thus we could either have a way to access it from the artist section, or we could have a dedicated section so as we can fix incorrect matches for merged or unrecognized albums.
I have many classical music compilation. I put "compilation" in the artist ID3 tag so as I can find all my compilations in iTunes through the artist section.
All of my compilations have their own real album names in the ID3 tag.
This kind of media are not recognised for now by the media manager (maby because "compilation" is not a real artist). If we could have a way to add them directly from an album section, it would be great.
We should also be able to edit the genre or to use the ID3 tag genre. For now, plex seems to replace the ID3 tag by the genre it finds on LastFM. This create a huge genre list that is unusable if you have a big Library.
For the moment I'm using the iTunes plugin and unfortunately I'm not able to randomly play music of large selection. Moreover with this plugin we do not have any informations about artists or albums. That's the reason why I really would like to switch to the built in Music Manager
I'll try to re-import my library this week and I'll send you the produced log file.
I had the brilliant idea of uninstalling Plex 9 and doing a re-install in an effort to get more of my TV Shows to scan. Well…now none (zero, nada, zippo, null) of my TV shows show up. When I update the section I get a message in the lower left hand corner the states “Last updated December 16, 1969” 1969? Wow, I didn’t know Plex had been around that long! It sure is taking y’all a long time to get out of beta testing!!
Anyway, the Movies and Music sections both scanned perfectly. I have attached logs for everyone’s enjoyment. If you need anymore info let me know.
Oh yeah, I also moved out my folders one by one to see if I could get any to scan and still no luck. Very weird. Prior to the reinstall I had about a 90% scan rate on TV Shows.
Here's the issue:
<br />
Nov 09, 2010 07:16:04 [0xa020e500] DEBUG - * Scanning /Volumes/Video 2/TV Shows<br />
Nov 09, 2010 07:16:04 [0xa020e500] DEBUG - * Marking media not available in /Volumes/Video 2/TV Shows<br />

Nov 09, 2010 07:16:04 [0xa020e500] DEBUG - * Taking 0 directories out of the map (which has 11 dirs) for being unavailable.<br />
I'm guessing your volume probably got renamed "Video" or "Video 3" :)
If you can reproduce that scanner crash I'd love to hear about it.
Elan,
Like 99% of the people here - love Plex, donated to Plex and have been using Plex for about a year and a half. Congrats on all of your recent achievements.
My Movies are in 'Volumes/Video'' and my TV Shows are in 'Volumes/Video 2'. I have looked at all the pathways in the TV section and everything looks okay. Is there anywhere I should look to see if Plex is looking for a 'video' or 'video 3' for TV shows? I did check to make sure the hard drive itself was still named 'Video 2' and it is.
I'll try to reproduce the crash tomorrow. I'm going to sleep now.
thanks again.
Please help me with this:(
Last month I installed Plex and it was working great, movie data/images would be gathered fine.
- However last week I had to reinstall my OS (All software up to date).
- Installed Plex and added in my external drive for the Movie section (Ver 0.9.0.2.1-ea4394c).
- It started to generate Movie posters until it got half way (about 100 out 200 files).
- Some of them I managed to manually use the “Fix Incorrect Match…” to correct them but afterwards it stopped coming up with any info at all, left it for 2 days and still nothing.
- I have now installed Plex from scratch removing both the Plex and Plex Media Server folders from the /User/Application support/, and also the .plist files from /User/Preferences, not once but 3 times in total.
- Now I don’t get any data regarding the Movies I add in, the “Fix Incorrect Match” option does not come up with any info still.
The following log is me adding in one folder with one avi file (/Bolt/Bolt.avi) to a blank PMS.
I have also tried to manually search for the name but with no luck.
I can’t even up load my log file (You aren’t permitted to upload this kind of file)…

help
Thanks for the kind words :) Given those error messages, I'm 100% sure that when it went to look at "/Volumes/Video 2/TV Shows" it either didn't see anything in there or didn't have permission to read it. You can hit shift+cmd+G in Finder and type in that path and see if it works.
If you zip the file it should allow an upload.
Since I do see the correct movie come back, what would help is a zipped up log of the Freebase plug-in (~/Library/Logs/PMS Plugin Logs/com.plexapp.imdb.log)
Here you go Elan, hope you can figure out whats stopping it from working properly.
I really appreciate the help, Thank you!
You're quite welcome!
I looked through your logs, and there's nothing obviously wrong. If you can Fix Incorrect Match on poor Bolt and not get any responses, and can do an iChat screenshare, hit me up on AIM (leafmunchersrule) and I'll take a few minutes to see what's going on.
Elan,
Attached is the newest crash log. Also, I did hit shift+cmd+G in Finder and the path (/Volumes/Video 2/TV Shows) works.
Lastly, in Plex Media Manger > TV Shows, I no longer get the 'Last updated December 19, 1969' message, it actually says 'Last updated today at 9:14'. So that's an improvement!!
I'd love to know what directory structure led to that crash. If you're available, can you IM me (leafmunchersrule) and maybe we can run a few things from the Terminal?
I completely wiped and reinstalled OS X (10.6.5) on my Mac Mini trying to solve the problem of TV/Movies not showing up in Plex, but I still have the same problem.
I’ve read around a bit on the forums so I will try to include as much relevant info as possible. I an running Mac Mini on my gigabit IPV4/IPV6 LAN named ‘ratbert’; wifi is disabled; Plex Media Scanner does not show up in the Bonjour Browser at all; rebooting does nothing; restarting Plex Media Server does nothing; removing other network interfaces does nothing; I have no proxies running on the Mini.

After restarting the Plex Media Server several times it showed up briefly in the Bonjour Browser, but when I launched Plex there were still no TV/Movie menus and when I quit Plex, the Plex Media Server was again gone from the Bonjour browser.
Any help would be appreciated. I've had this problem since Plex .9 came out and have been using Boxee instead and I don't particularly care for Boxee.
Firsly, thanks for an amazing piece of software. You are doing a great thing.
I am having problems with my TV shows, which are not showing up in Plex. Five TV shows show up, but the remaining 20 or so do not. I have read this entire topic and studied my plex media scanner log files, but to no avail. I have attached my media scanner log file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Had a brief look into your Log fine. I am under the impression that your folder and file names don’t really follow the File Naming recommendations in the Plex Wiki.
In the forums there are many posts of folk who had issues with TV Shows not being scanned / missing metadata etc. that where resolved by renaming according to the wiki. Plex will have problems scanning and retrieving content if the folders and files are not named as “expected”…
In addition, you can only expect to see meatadata for shows that are recognized in theTVDB (assuming you use the default metadata agent).
Please try to re-name your shows following the above mentioned standard…
ciao…
Scanner Problem with Parentheses and/or Accents?
I generally find close to 100% good results with the media scanner. And the few shows where I get problems can usually be fixed by using the Fix Incorrect Match button in the Media Manager.
However, I have come across a title that I can’t get to work at all. The title is:
Histoire(s) du Cinéma
Here is the title’s TheTVDB page
Not only does the scanner fail to match the show, but the correct match doesn’t show up if I hit the Fix Incorrect Match button.
I haven’t read all 16 pages of this thread, so I don’t know if all of the accent issues have been solved or not. But I assume I’m getting this problem because of the parentheses in the title.
I’ve tried renaming the show with parentheses and accent removed, but still no luck in getting the Media Manager to find the correct TheTVDB page. Any suggestions on a workaround?
