my plex got hacked

Can u kind people advice plz I noticed that my media posters was getting swoped with each other and porn was being installed on there wich I didn’t find funny because my young children watch my plex so I installed a pin number for security but it still happening keep putting porn on there so is there anything else I can do.

Turn off remote access for starters. Turn of UPnP in the router (if you haven’t configured a manual port forward), or remote the manual port forward.

Remote users don’t have the ability to add media to a Plex server, unless I’m terribly mistaken. It sounds like someone has actual access to your entire computer. When was the last time you changed your wireless network password (if you have wifi)? Is your router’s configuration exposed to the internet, and if so when was the last time you changed your router’s password? When was the last time you did a virus/malware scan?

And when all that is done (your surrounding environment re. plex) remember to change the password for Plex and tick the checkbox that signs out all connected devices. That way you get a new token and everyone has to logon again (including the server).

Cheers guys very helpful

Where about do I find the tick box sign out all devices plz

Can you try and find Plex Media Server settings file/entries. You have not said what your platform is so cannot tell you if it is Preferences.xml or registry or equivalent on Mac,

See if there is a setting named disableRemoteSecurity and if there is with a value of 1 - delete the entry
This support page tells you where the settings are held

There was a problem with the FreeNAS plugin years ago where the developers released it with incorrect settings

Thanks for advice

You’ve answered your own question. Your plex isn’t hacked. Your friends have access to it.

At 36 years old, tell your friends to purchase their own media server.

Or get more considerate friends that dont put porn on someone else’s media server

If it’s one of my friends y would it say it’s me rich 198 and it’s happening when my plex is turned off

Have you done any of the things I recommended?

Yes changed password etc but when I turned my pc bk the on channelscreen was bk again

Not sure what that means. Can you clarify please?

How did you configure Plex to prompt for a pin? I thought that the pin was a feature of PlexHome which is only for PlexPass users. I don’t see a PlexPass logo next to your name. Is this pin option something outside of Plex?
Also, are you letting your friends login as your account? If so, then they need to create their own accounts and you then send an invite. You should NEVER share your credentials and give someone full access to your server.
