My private podcast rss feed shows up in Plex search, please remove it

Hello Plex Support, I’d like to express my love to the community but I believe my problem can only be solved by the support staff.

I’d like to have my podcast RSS removed from the global Plex database and the search results.

I have a Patreon and one of my listeners said that they weren’t able to add my Patreon podcast RSS feed to their Plex client. I checked if I was able to reproduce the issue. Now it seems like my private feed is openly available in the Plex podcast search. See image: image

I’d like to ask you to remove this podcast from the search database, considering it’s a private feed.

Thank you and sorry for the confusion, it was not clear that any podcast that’s added in the client automatically gets into the search index.

Hi,
the way this usually works is that adding a URL at your account level, it’ll be included into your feed / Podcasts section. You’ll be able to access it from there or find it using the Plex search. However it’s not being added to a global database / published otherwise.

I’ve asked around and according to what I could find, this Podcast is not generally available / published. If you want it to be removed from your own account you should be able to do that right from within Plex.

From the Podcasts Overview support article:

Removing

You can remove a podcast from My Podcasts in several ways:

  • From an episode On Deck use the menu and choose to remove from My Podcasts
  • On the preplay screen for that podcast in the web app, click the In My Podcasts button so that the green checkmark disappears
  • In mobile apps click the menu and choose to remove

Thank you so much, tom80H, you truly are a Plex Ninja

Actually I also found that support article and followed the instructions, but the podcast was still showing up in my search. That’s why I posted here in the first place. But since you confirmed that the show doesn’t appear for anyone else, I can only assume that it got added to a local index on my machine.

So do you think that this means that I can freely recommend my listeners to use Plex and this won’t expose their own private RSS feed URLs to the global audience? I was under the assumption that every RSS added to Plex gets into the global database.
