Five stars next to each entry in the list which allows me to select the rating easily. At the moment I’m having to go into each one retrospectively and rate.

Retrospectively means going back in time. The word you’re looking for is repeatedly.
I doubt they’ll be adding the ratings in the main library view as that would clutter that page and most people don’t even use the rating system. If you’re in a browser you could just control+click on the movie to open in a new tab.
