Hi my activity on updating metadata gets stuck automatically .I have deleted the file to see if this stops, but it jumps to another check, always it seems on Series/season 2 of a file .This process stays for days on the same file and doesn’t finish its checking

What version are you running now? I’m experiencing this same issue, stuck on ‘Updating Metadata’ on PMS v1.23.6.4881 running on a Synology DS918+ w/DSM 7.0.41890. I have to stop the app on the Synology in order to clear it. However, after a while it get’s stuck on the same file again. Even if I manually update the metadata and refresh the library, PMS will still get stuck on that same file.

I show that 1.24.1.4931-1a38e63c6 is the latest version of Plex Media Server to download. I rebooted my server running this version. The one show it was stuck on stopped and now a new show popped up. Season 2 again
This is still happening. After restarting Plex Media Server it eventually gets stuck on another show. I made no changes to start this happening other than upgrading the server to 1.24.1.4931-1a38e63c6.
This is not limited to season 2 as the screenshot below shows
I’m having the exact same issue with varying movies that already have metadata.
Is there a fix for this yet? I have to restart plex to get rid of it

Yep still happening. Have to restart to make the message go away and it comes back later in the evening when the maintenance tasks run.
Update: After restarting Plex server 2 days ago it has not returned. No changes were made to my configuration.
I’ve been have the same problem. It gets stuck on updating the metadata for one movie that it already had metadata for. I’m on version 1.24.4.5081.
Restarting is the only thing that stops it, otherwise Plex will end up becoming unresponsive. If I try to do anything with the movie in Plex after restarting it (like delete it), it’ll immediately start updating the metadata for it again.
Providing server logs will ensure that if somebody is looking at these posts they may be able to help.
This just happened again after not happening for 2 months. No changes made to my server configuration. On server version 1.24.5.5173. I will try to get the logs when this happens again.
But did it really get stuck? I’ve seen this happen and it was nothing more than a refresh problem of the top banner on the browser.
A force refresh of the page clears it and review of the logs showed me it actually completed without issue.
I already restarted the server. Next time this happens I will try this. You mean if you open the page (you didn’t already have it open) and this is happening you still need to force a refresh?
A server restart is certainly not needed, at least not for me. It looks to me to be a cache problem on the top banner of the plex webui. Once the cache is refreshed its cleared. At least that is my experience of this when it happens.
