Are the ATV’s not using local address at all? That doesn’t make sense as they should then have unique public IP’s
@miniop what is the network overview of your devices?
Plex and plexconnect are on a remote dedicate server (in a datacenter) . ip : 80.241.208.143 .
In my home i have 2 ATV . First ATV local ip 192.168.1.5 and the second 192.168.1.6. My internet ip is static 62.1.83.250 .
So logically when ATV is connected with plexconnect, it gets my internet ip as the Plex is on a remote server and can see only my internet ip and not my local ip.
Can somebody just tell me where I can find the log file? I can´t find it in the PlexConnect folder on my synology NAS. My server operates in the local LAN, so the problem should be different from what miniop experiences.
Tribune88: look in Settings.cfg. There should be a line like "logpath=...". It might be re-directed to some system directory in bwynant's Synology package.
If I have multiple atvs am I supposed to be using 1 myplex account or creating different myplex accounts for each atv? It doesn’t seem logical to be creating a diff account for each atv, but I would like someone to confirm this.
I prefer different accounts because each account has his own watch/unwatch list, different settings,...

but using 1 account is like having a dvr in each bedroom. can pick up and leave off whenever i need to? no matter where i am?

You don't need different accounts, in fact it does not make sense usually for an individual to do so.
Some people in this thread do have different accounts but for specific reasons.

Yeah this configuration was not architected for, which is why you are experiencing the issue.
I still no idea why others with it all on the local LAN are experiencing this.

Let's say I set up atv at my mother's house, does she need her own myplex account? Or can she just use mine as well. I don't want it to get too complicated for her. I don't care about watch status and resume time and all of that.
Secondly, what if I do this at say, 4 locations (moms house, brother's house, uncles house, dog house) with my 1 myplex account, will that slow down accessing the trailers app (plexconnect) significantly?
It won’t make a difference.
F00b4r : why shouldnt work ; as udid is unique so the problem is that the request is from the same ip ; it is working for the first time but then it confuse the accounts for unkown reason
It's not an unknown reason - see my earlier post:
"You have TWO aTVs talking on the same IP address. Someone will get puzzled.
The thing is... we can not always make sure, that the aTV UDID is added to the URL request. Some request are done iOS internally, without asking us for any additional work load. We try to work around that to have the IP as backup unique identifier. This for sure assumes, the IP is somewhat unique..."
oo ok thanks baa
baa do you think there will be a solution for this ? or it will be very difficult ?
I have no idea... I don't see another possibility to distinguish between different aTVs.
Do you have a chance to run a PlexConnect locally?
Me and my friends renting a dedicate server (split the money) so we can see all so this isnt possible.
Anyway if you could think any other solution will be great. Thanks.
It's not about the server running the PMS - it's only about a local installation of PlexConnect. You still can sign in to MyPlex and access that remote server.
Baa : Lets say i setup plexconnect to my local network and PMS is in the dedicate server.
All my atv friends should point their dns to my internet ip. Now when they login with myplex and choose something to see the streaming will passthrough my internet netowrk like ( dedicate(PMS) -> plexconnect (my internet) -> friend) or it will stream from the PMS directly to their ATV ?
