Hi,
I’ve started Mythtv channel. Using the new 0.25 services api and the myth meta data.
I have the channel with listings setup, but to play the stream, mythtv requires a 2 step process.
1st to set up the transcoding for a particular recording
2nd to then connect to that stream
There is also a call required to stop the streaming when not required
does anyone know how I can set this up as the channel seems to just expect a URL to directly get the stream from
Thanks
Paul
well how do you “set up” the stream? presumably you can send some type of HTTP request to myth tv. so you will need to send that request the tell plex the URL that myth tv setup for you.
I having difficulty seeing the confusion. if you set up your containers with a callback you can do any setup you need in the callback before redirecting plex to the streaming URL.
Thanks,
I hadn’t realised that I was in the playback ‘event’ at that point with the callback.
Can got this piece working now.

Is there a beta of this I can try?
Are you still working on this channel? I am a new user for Plex but have been using mythtv for many years. So will this allow you to watch mythtv recording as well as LiveTV. I record from a HD-PVR and HD Homerun.
It looks like you state that you have to transcode first? Is that to deliver to a Roku format? Or is there another reason? I have Roku and Samsung TV so I am curious if that is necessary step.
You also say you are using the new support for metadata? Does that mean you dont need to export the recordings with mythexport or mythical librarian?
It would be fantastic to have full mythtv backend support?
Have you reached out to the Mythtv Developers for support on this?
This is something I’ve been looking for for a long time. I use MythicalLibrarian to dump symlinks of all my recordings to a fileshare, but it’s a wee bit buggy.
Are you looking for beta testers? Anything I can do to help? If you’re looking for answers to how MythTV works, the mailings lists (mythtv-users and mythtv-dev) are fantastic resources.
Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help this project, as this would close the last loop of my home HTPC setup.
