This is no doubt a stupid question from a Plex newbie… I see that to name movies it should be the movie title and then the year. On the Plex website it says for example: Ghostbusters (1984). Does the 1984 I have to be in () or can it just be Ghostbusters 1984 or Ghostbusters.1984?
Sorry if it’s a ridiculous question, I just want to know while I am organizing the library.
The release year should be in (). It might be working without, I really can’t tell, my naming convention always included (year).
In this article you can read:
Stand-Alone Video Files
Movie media files can be contained in one or more folders. The structure isn’t important unless you have custom media (e.g. posters) for a particular movie. To correctly name a movie file, name it as follows:
MovieName (release year).ext
Thanks. I did see that. Was just hoping it didn’t need to be that way as most of mine just say the name and then the year not in (). So I’ll have to start re-naming them all. Ah well, it’ll be a process lol.
