Native support for Opensuse

I am a big fan of openSUSE and have been running it for years. It’s a really solid platform with some powerful management tools. However, Plex has been one of the few applications that doesn’t play nicely with openSUSE.

Installing Plex on supported distros is fine. Ports are opened easily and there are no real hassles. Installing and running Plex on my Windows gaming desktop has also been super streamlined.

With openSUSE on the otherhand, nothing seems to work as expected. It’s harder to get the remote access working properly and opening ports for Plex. And now, I can’t even get Plex to install correctly on a fresh install. (Thank god I chose to try doing a fresh install on a VM first)
openSUSE Leap 15 had enough changes that Plex would not install correctly and be able to run.

I’m not saying that every distro of linux needs to be supported, but openSUSE is definitely one of the big ones and I think it deserves a little bit of love.

Have you tried the new Forum Beta?
In this beta, you’ll find support for openSUSE is fully in place for any version which uses systemd.
As the packaging system was being rewritten, I redid the entire openSUSE spec and install scripts.

I was not aware of a new Forum Beta. Would you mind sharing a link to the install scripts?
