Navigation bug Android TV beta

One recent bug I’ve noticed is that when you’re at a movie or show level and then do a left click on the wheel (SHIELD 2019 Pro remote), instead of going back to the library/section the movie or show originated from, it now always goes to the library that’s directly to the left. For example, I have 13 libraries + “Playlists”, and if I’m in “TV Shows”, which happens to be right in the middle of all of them, left-clicking out of a show will then take me to a library far below “TV Shows”, depending on where I was height-wise in the show’s page. Does that makes sense? :stuck_out_tongue:

Currently on 8.28.0.30077, but I believe this has been going on for a while.

I can confirm this as well on on 8.28.30077 FireOS. When clicking back into the navigation menu it will seemingly randomly select a different library based on row position as mentioned above requiring you to switch back to the library you were in.

In my case I haven’t noticed it jumping to a random library, but it always jumps to the top of the left menu list - i.e., my ID. When I click ‘back’ again, it jumps to the Home screen, and the third ‘back’ will exit.

Hey I moved this to a new topic because it is separate from the theme backgrounds that other topic was really about.

I have not been able to reproduce what you are seeing but maybe I am not really understanding. I am also running a 8.29 early alpha so maybe it was just already fixed in that.

Hitting left to side bar from anywhere on a shows page (say if i scroll all the way down to related items or something) always takes me back to focus on the library that show was in (which remained highlighted when on show with side bar collapsed)

Hitting back always takes me first to the sidebar with library I was in focused, and hitting it a second time takes me to Home. then on third it takes me out of app to device home screen

Again this is on an early alpha 8.29 so maybe this was just fixed already or I am misunderstanding steps to reproduce.

Here’s my scenario, 100% reproducible (Shield):

Watch a video, say from the movie library (same behavior from any other lib). It doesn’t matter how I get to the video - directly from the home screen, search, etc.

When video is nearly done, I hit the return/back button, and the video playback shrinks to a small window & continues playing (this is normal; thought I mention it in case this contributes to the later problem).

I hit the return/back button again, and I’m back on the home screen, but the item that is highlighted is my userid on the top of the left navigation pane. I hit return/back again and the highlight switches to the first item in the Continue Watching hub.

Hit the return/back again and the item highlighted switches to the Home button on the left navigation pane. One more return/back exits Plex – as it should, but it took a few extra steps to get there, first going to my userid instead of Home.

What I haven’t tried is waiting for a video to end on its own and seeing what happens when I press return/back from that point.

In any case, as I noted I can reproduce this at will. Happy to send logs if it helps.

BTW, running latest Android TV beta client and latest beta server (Windows).

UPDATE: After paying closer attention tonight, I can say that the bug I reported seems to only happen after playback.

And @BigWheel, I think you did understand it correctly

Could be related to this Breadcrumb navigation jumps to random areas on latest (8.28) Android TV Beta - #6 by geosidi which I raised a couple of weeks ago.

Yup, that sounds pretty much like my issue. Sorry for not searching first

Like @BigWheel said, perhaps it’s already fixed in 8.29. Thanks guys!
