Need a global photos solution - wish list

Currently my family uses all different outlets for photos, and its time consuming to organize the photos together after holidays or events. It basically just does not happen, and whatever gets posted on facebook falls into the abyss and is never pieced together for us to view at the tv.

I would like a easy, organized, and controlled way for photos to be uploaded to the plex server. Ex. After today’s thanksgiving events, my family could select the photos they want to post to the plex server and send to plex. Currently, its a all or none solution for camera roll upload.
The server setup features could look something like this, per user:

  • enable photo posts for user
  • set photo root location
  • name photo with username in filename
  • auto tag holidays for searching, locations, allow for further tagging
  • structure folders by year and month day format and apply taken date to this organization
  • easy download back to another computer or device

If someone was viewing photos months or years later and notices they have not contributed, the can upload, and based on date taken, would sort photo to the folder structure.

After a party or event, everyone is messaging, dropping, emailing, posting…files we all would waste time organizing if we even did it.

This is my wish exactly. Plex would be the perfect solution if they had this capability. Have you found any work around to this.

I created a iCloud shared photo album invited family members for this particular test. On my computer I installed iCloud and enabled photos/shared albums. I pointed the location to be on my NAS (Drobo). Added the photo library to plex (on NAS)
Any photo added to this album, will post to Plex. What I could not do is subfolders as iCloud shared photos does no support this option.

This is very helpful. Thank you very much. I wanted to stay out of the Apple Eco system but I suppose I will implement your technique till plex figures out a way to enable more thorough upload features. Thanks again.
